Before Progress bought Sitefinity I met with the lead developer and we had a conversation about the CMS architecture. What a surprise it was to learn that focus was on low code but a ton of interfaces are available allowing organizations to customize the CMS to specific needs. I mean down to the level of form controls there are abstractions allowing for custom inputs and labels.

Let’s look at some key points.

Cost

The run rate of Sitefinity will be licensing and the expense of a running two additional VMs for the application and database. A bit of staff time will be needed for periodic updates if the deployment is on-prem. Sitefinity does not publish its current pricing for some strange reason, but I recall some years ago creating Sitefinity modules for an organization and back then Sitefinity was a cheaper option than its nearest competitors. So, a wet finger in the wind estimate is that the SiteFinity run rate is competitive.

Developers

From a developer's perspective, Sitefinity provides a well-documented API and supports various technologies like ASP.NET, MVC, and Angular, allowing for deep customization and integration with other systems. The platform also offers a strong security framework to protect against common web threats.

Marketing

Sitefinity's digital marketing capabilities are worth mentioning as well. It provides tools for A/B testing, personalization, and analytics, helping businesses optimize their online presence and engage with their audience effectively.

Reviews

  • The strong backend interface and uniform module will make its aura around the audience. Additionally, it helps efficiently to edit several pages and manage the media content promptly.
  • Very user friendly and well documented, customer support is the best I ever had if you have a license, and okay if you don't have a license.
  • It's modularity is one of the best features, a lot of mobile responsive capabilities, builtin web api that exposes your services without an extra line of code.
  • I have used Sitefinity for two large corporate websites, for B2B and B2C. Their software is very easy to use and is a good value for the cost.
